Cadus Labs LLC ("HiOla," "we," "us," or "our") provides a messaging and calling app with translation, transcription, and AI-assisted communication features. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account information: phone number, profile name, profile photo, language preferences, and user identifiers.
• Contacts: if you grant contact permission, we use your contacts to help you find people you know in HiOla.
• Messages, calls, and media: message text, images, audio messages, call metadata, and call captions/transcripts when you use those features.
• Device and app data: device identifiers, push notification tokens, app events, crash logs, diagnostics, approximate location derived from IP address, and security logs.
• Purchase data: subscription status, entitlement state, store transaction identifiers, and related billing metadata from Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat. We do not receive full payment card numbers.

How We Use Information

• Provide messaging, calling, translation, transcription, smart replies, and sticker features.
• Verify phone numbers, authenticate accounts, deliver notifications, and keep the service secure.
• Operate subscriptions, restore purchases, measure feature usage, debug crashes, prevent spam or abuse, and provide customer support.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

AI and Third-Party Processing

HiOla may send message text, audio, and support request content to third-party processors when needed to provide app features. Our current service providers include:

• Supabase for authentication, database, server functions, and media storage.
• OpenAI for translation, speech transcription, smart reply suggestions, and AI support responses.
• Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, and cloud messaging.
• Twilio for phone number verification and OTP delivery.
• RevenueCat for subscription entitlement sync and purchase status management.
• LiveKit for real-time calling infrastructure.
• GIPHY for sticker search and sticker content.

How We Share Information

We share information with service providers that process data on our behalf to deliver HiOla features, with other users when you send messages, calls, profile details, or media to them, and when required by law or to protect users and the service. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and Account Deletion

We keep personal information for as long as needed to operate HiOla, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. You can request account deletion in the app under Settings → Delete Account, submit a request at hiola.app/delete-account, or contact support@hiola.app. Account deletion removes your account and associated app records from active systems, subject to limited backup, security, and legal retention requirements.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards such as access controls, encrypted transport, and platform security controls to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

HiOla is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws different from your country.

Your Choices

• You can manage contacts, microphone, speech recognition, camera, photo, and notification permissions in your device settings.
• You can edit profile details or delete your account in the app.
• You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable law provides those rights.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice in the app or on this page.
